Chatting With The Guru Ep. 8 – Xen Mendelsohn

Chatting With The GuruIt’s Podcast Thursday, and yes I know I missed last week. I got a bit swamped what with CES coverage and all (on other sites, obviously Nokia didn’t exactly blow us away). Here it is, the latest episode of Chatting with the Guru. My guest this week is Xen Mendelsohn, she’s got her own blog at Xellular Identity, and is also currently at Flixwagon. I’ve been lucky enough to get an early alpha edition of the Flixwagon software, but you guys can still check out my videos to get a taste for it. Full writeup will be coming soon here on Symbian-Guru.

This time around, our topics ranged from creating and sharing media to how exactly our mobiles fit into our lives, and how they might help us connect better locally. As usual, it’s around half an hour of good conversation, so grab your coffee and have a listen.

Remember, you can listen here, with the fancy new player, or you can also subscribe in your favorite podcasting application by clicking here, or downloading the Symbian-Guru Mobile-Related Podcast OPML, over in the sidebar.

There is currently an issue with the embedded player on the site playing the audio back at slower speeds. However, if you get the track in a podcasting application, or download it and listen in your own player, it sounds fine. I’m working to fix this, thanks for your patience.

Chatting With The Guru Episode 7 – Mobile Gaming

chattingwiththegurualbumart
Episode 7 of Chatting with the Guru is finally here. To be honest, Podcast Thursday snuck up on me somewhat. However, by popular demand I was able to get James Whatley back on the show, and we have a nice little discussion about Mobile Gaming. Listen in to find out what we think, and some thoughts and ideas for the future of Mobile Gaming.

Chatting with the Guru – Episode 6 – Rafe Blandford

chattingwiththegurualbumartIt’s finally here, I know you’ve been on the edge of your seat for it. It’s finally Podcast Thursday here at Symbian-Guru, so I give you Chatting with the Guru Episode 6, a chat with Rafe Blandford, of AllAboutSymbian. Rafe has been around the Symbian world for a long while, and we have a chat about the new N95 firmware, Nokia World, and a few other fun topics.

I’m experimenting with a new way to organize these podcasts, so let me know how the experience was regarding downloading, if the Album Art showed up, and that sort of thing. As I’m off to Nokia World next week, I’ll hopefully be able to chat with tons of people, and will have those up on the following Thursdays, so watch this space!

Episode 5 – Steve Litchfield

chattingwiththegurualbumart
Sorry again for the lack of a podcast last week, in case you hadn’t heard, the big news was that I’m Engaged! You can read the whole story over at Rickycadden.com. So I was a bit pre-occupied with setting that up and was unable to get a podcast out the door.

In this episode of Chatting with the Guru, Steve and I chat about leaking information, blogger relations (some link love, check out this post covering it on the TapTu blog), and a few other fun topics. Sit back, grab your coffee, and listen in for another episode.

Next week will be Driving with the Guru, and I’m putting together a few things that hopefully will make it slightly better! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated.

**I realize Steve’s voice is MUCH lower than mine. I’m moving to a new recording format that will hopefully allow me to address that in the future.**

Chatting with the Guru – Ep 4 – Tabletblog.com

Chattingwiththegurualbumart
Episode 4 is upon us, and this time my guest is Daniel aka
Thoughtfix from Tabletblog.com. Daniel’s been blogging about the
Internet Tablets for quite a while now, and was fortunate enough to be
at the launch of the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet in San Francisco last
week.

We chat about the N810, as well as the differences in OS2008 and
what exactly the tablet means to Nokia and to consumers. Grab that
coffee and get your podcatching software ready!

Episode 3 – James Whatley aka Whatleydude

Chattingwiththeguru
Finally, you’ve been waiting, and here it is – Episode 3 of Chatting with the Guru. This time my guest is James Whatley, known to most around the web as Whatleydude. James has previously worked with Refresh Mobile, the killer team working on Mobizines and a few other fun new projects. More recently, he’s working at Spinvox, another cool service that I’m still tinkering with. However, James’ comments in this podcast are entirely his own thoughts, and DO NOT represent the thoughts, views, or beliefs of Spinvox.

You know the drill – sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and listen in as James chats with the Guru.

**I know that this week was supposed to be Driving with the Guru. Truth is, I’m working on it. I’ll have a new episode next week, end of story. Sorry bout that. Enjoy.

Chatting with the Guru Ep 2 – Ollywompus

Chattingwiththeguru
That’s right, Episode 2 is ready to rock and roll. You may have noticed it was up earlier today if you have the feed setup in your podcatching application. If you don’t, then shame on you! Here’s the feed link, you can use that to subscribe.

This one features guest author Ollywompus, as we discuss the recent announcement that Verizon Wireless is looking at LTE for their 4G network, and also the presentation that Sprint gave claiming that their WiMax business model would do away with the typical subsidy-contract based setup.

It’s a great little chat, and we managed to keep it right at the 30 minute mark, so it’s not too long. Quality is a bit shaky, as we used Gizmo Project again. For all future CWTGs, I’ll be using Skype. I’m also working to get the Album Art to show the Chatting with the Guru logo. Just for kicks and giggles.

Next episode will feature James Whatley, aka Whatleydude, of Spinvox, for some intriguing conversation about blogging and corporate openness.

Chatting with the Guru – Episode 1 – Stefan and Ovi

Chattingwiththeguru
I’m very pleased to announce the first episode of Chatting with the Guru, with my guest, Stefan Constantinescu of Intomobile. This is something that I have been planning to get started for a long time now and I finally got a microphone and my theme music, so here it is. The format is going to be me hosting a different guest each time, and talking about, well, whatever we feel like talking about. Obviously they’ll have something to do with the mobile industry, but it will not be limited to just Nokia/Symbian topics.

Please know that I am begging for feedback. Please also know that I’m aware of the quality and will be steadily working to improve on it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hopefully, this will be an opportunity to get a conversation with people in the industry that you, the reader, might not be able to just sit down and chat with. It will *NOT* be an interview show.

You can snag the feed here, or over on the sidebar. You can also listen to the podcast through your browser.
